QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid South Carolina teacher certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Valid South Carolina Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB SUMMARY:
To support students by identifying, assessing, and addressing speech and language disorders, enabling them to fully benefit from the district's educational program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Screen and assess students for speech and language delays, providing thorough evaluations and diagnoses of speech, voice, fluency, and language impairments.
- Compile case history data, including family, health, and early developmental histories, as appropriate.
- Design and implement individualized therapy programs to address students' specific speech and language needs.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to reduce or eliminate speech and language impairments that impact students' educational progress.
- Assist in proper referrals to community agencies and specialists when additional support is needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to integrate therapy strategies into students' daily activities.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
- Provide in-service training and serve as a consultant to teachers and staff on topics related to speech and language development.
- Offer information, support, and counseling to parents of student with speech and language impairments, as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as therapy services provided.
- Maintain a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services for appropriate referrals.
- Oversee the requisition and maintenance of equipment, tests, test protocols, and supplies necessary for therapy services.
- Serve as a resource for developing balanced oral communication programs and speech improvement initiatives.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the principal or district.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
