Biomedical Equipment Senior Technician
Job Description
The Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician (SRBMET) will, with no supervision, provide a variety of tasks including: repairs, calibration, testing and maintenance of biomedical equipment and support systems to ensure safe and appropriate operations. This position will also be responsible for performing electrical safety tests on biomedical equipment and acting as a resource for staff members who will use the biomedical equipment.
Responsibilities
Repair, install, maintain, calibrate and inspect medical equipment and systems.
Perform preventative maintenance and safety testing of medical equipment and systems.
Working knowledge in implementation IT, basic computers and networked systems.
Assists in maintaining inventory and performing maintenance on medical equipment.
Maintains documentation of all activities and test results according to department policy.
Acts as a resource to Centra staff in the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
May be required to coordinate and/or supervise vendor service technicians as needed.
Must be able to prioritize work efforts independently.
May be asked to help prioritize work efforts for Level I staff.
Knowledgeable in use of following tools/equipment: Safety Analyzer, Digital multimeter, Medical and physiological simulators, Signal generator, Soldering equipment, Light mechanical shop tools, Participate in assigned projects.
Expected participation in 24x7 on-call rotation, to support functions for a variety of diverse industries, including: Healthcare, Hotel, Higher Education/College, Insurance.
Assist in evaluation of new equipment.
Assist in mentoring and training of Level I staff members.
Must exhibit good interpersonal skills - flexible and available to work with employees at all levels.
Should present good verbal and written communication skills.
Work must be complete, correct, and neat.
Must use resources to handle workloads in a timely and cost efficient manner.
Uses good judgment by finding facts, choices and possible solutions.
Shares in performance improvement activities.
Improves services by using feedback from staff, patients, and supervisor.
Keeps up to date with new equipment and services.
Qualifications
Required Education: Associates Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience (to include equivalent military service experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in biomedical equipment technology or electronics preferred.
Required Experience: 5-7 years of related biomedical and/or electronic work experience is required.
Minimum three specialized OEM Service Training.
Required Certification: CBET ICC Certification or 5 years minimum related biomedical experience can be substituted as certification.
Candidates must be able to present a current and valid Virginia driver's license
