Job Summary:
The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed in this job. Incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Medical Assistants help patients by providing information, services, and assistance over the phone in a call center setting. The successful candidate must be an exceptionally organized team player who is able to manage multiple priorities at once, in a fast-paced medical office, with flexibility to work in a different location, as needed.

Enter patient’s information into electronic chart. This includes reasons for visits, active problems, medications, allergies, past medical history, surgical history, social history, and immunizations.
Prepare patients for examination.
Review and enter the patients’ preferred pharmacy.
Place electronic orders for laboratory or radiology testing as ordered by provider.
Place electronic orders for refill medications as authorized under protocol.
Communicate with the pharmacy, the laboratory or radiology as needed to facilitate orders or retrieve medical records.
Process incoming faxed prescriptions refill requests and other clinical paperwork per protocol.
Process outgoing clinical paperwork in the provider outboxes multiple times throughout the day.
Receive patient phone calls and triage as appropriate utilizing standard guidelines provided.
Communicate with patients by phone or mail as ordered by providers.
Stock and store supplies that are delivered to the office.
Any other duties or responsibilities may be assigned.
Required education and experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
A Medical Assistant diploma or certificate of completion from a medical assistant training program is required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification/CPR certification preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Experience in working with Primary Care, Urgent Care, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, Geriatrics a plus.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required:
Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Understanding of principles and practices of the organization, planning, records management, and general administration.
Dependability, adaptability, and confidentiality are necessary attributes.
Must pass all items on Rancho’s Medical Assistant checklist.
Must pass Rancho’s administered Vaccine quiz.
Knowledge of accepted procedures for disposing of used supplies.
Ability to communicate effectively and congenially with patients and staff members in person, via email and over the phone.
Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgement when interacting with patients and staff members.
Ability to observe the general physical condition of patients to detect signs of abnormalities.
Ability to record observations and notes completely, accurately, literately, and concisely.
Computer skills necessary to navigate the company’s EMR system.
Ability to accept supervision and feedback.
Travel required: 10% in the surrounding Temecula, CA area from Hemet, CA to Fallbrook, CA.
Training will take place over a 2 week span with travel required to multiple office sites within the surrounding Temecula, CA area from Hemet, CA to Fallbrook, CA.
