Overview
TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Civil/Environmental Engineering Intern for our Summer 2025 intern program in our Scranton, PA office. This is a paid full-time position in our PPL Team. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2025 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists. As an Intern, the successful candidate will develop new skills while working as part of a dynamic and fast paced team. The position focuses on a candidate developing skills to assist clients as they comply with various environmental regulations and address their permitting challenges by working with project teams to perform analyses and to develop and implement plans, designs, and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Support civil engineering design tasks including sheet setup and drafting.
- Support site layout and grading, utility design, cost estimates, erosion and sedimentation control plans, and support preparation of technical design reports.
- Conduct hydrologic analyses to support planning, development, permitting and design of stormwater management systems.
- Assist in the preparation of civil construction drawings.
- Support solid waste engineering projects including landfill operational support, waste placement plans, and groundwater contour maps.
- Assist in the completion of ASTM-compliant Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and other due diligence efforts.
- Oversee drilling activities, other subsurface investigations, and remedial actions, including classifying soil, and collecting and submitting environmental samples (soil, water, sediment, soil gas, and indoor air).
- Assist in the preparation of technical environmental investigation reports and documentation.
- Participate in the development, cost estimating, and design of remedial alternatives, including vapor mitigation systems, cap and cover systems, and soil excavation/groundwater management.
- Use AUTOCAD, Civil-3D, HydroCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old with valid driver's license.
- Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, CAD, or related field
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, detail orientated person
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
