The Position
The Clinical, Medical & Regulatory Affairs (CMR) Acquisition Integration Director will be responsible for organizational readiness for and execution of successful integration of newly acquired assets and companies into operation across Clinical Development, Medical, and Regulatory Affairs (CMR) in North America. The role will also be responsible for establishing repeatable and consistent integration planning and delivery practices, techniques and tools that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of integration planning and execution over time.

Reports to the Vice President (VP) of CMR Strategic Operations. Key stakeholders include:
- North America Operations (NAO) CMR Leadership Team
- Novo Nordisk (NN) Global Integration and Business Development Teams
- Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) Future Business Strategy Team
- Development External Innovation
- NNI CMR Integration functional leads
- NNI Enterprise Integration leads
No direct reports, 5-10 indirect reports (NAO CMR integration team members).
Essential Functions
- Establish and maintain CMR integration capabilities and network
- Ensure organizational readiness for rapid operational integration of new assets and companies into NAO CMR
- Represent CMR in the NNI Integration Network and Development External Innovation extended teams to:
- Guide and influence core decisions in the approach to integration of new assets and companies into Novo Nordisk
- Define roles and responsibilities in driving integrations impacting NAO CMR
- Elevate NAO CMR needs to global decision makers
- Establish repeatable and consistent integration planning and delivery practices, techniques and tools that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of integration planning and execution over time
- Establish and maintain CMR Integration Network
- Plan and conduct the CMR Integration Team meetings and cross functional workshops
- Lead the development of key project management tools to effectively support integrations and drive visibility for executives on key roadblocks/priorities during an ongoing integration
- Partner with NN, NNI, Development, and CMR Business Development teams (e.g., CMR Asset Evaluation, Future Business Strategy) to ensure close link between due diligence and integrations
- Lead integrations of acquisitions/in-licensing across NAO CMR
- Responsible for project management of all integration efforts post due-diligence, inclusive of product in-licensing and/or acquisition of other companies ensuring a risk balanced approach acceptable to the relevant Line of Business (LoB) areas within the NAO CMR organization
- Assemble high performance integration teams in line with the Novo Nordisk Way (NNWay)
- Define the strategy and end goals of an integration process in close collaboration with the receiving CMR functional LoB areas, the originating company representatives, and Global, NNI, and Development Integration Management Offices
- From the agreed strategy, build an actionable plan, and drive the integration team towards timely execution of this plan
- Ensure appropriate assessment of associated risks and mitigations, as well as communication of these
- Communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders globally, including especially companies conducting contract work for the external company that owned the asset to be integrated
- Accountable for progress on the integration activities to the head of NAO CMR, global integration team, NNI integration team, Development integration team, IMOs, the Novo Nordisk project and to other governance bodies as needed and in accordance with the approved goals, agreed key deliverables, milestones and granted internal and external resources
- Support CMR strategic projects
- During periods of inactivity, work with CMRLT to drive pan-CMR projects
Physical Requirements
Approximately 20% overnight travel for global meetings or to collaborate with acquired entity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 10 years relevant experience; advanced degrees may be substituted for some experience as appropriate
- Demonstrated track record of managing collaborations / alliances and/or integration of M&A transactions (or transferrable experience)
- Leadership experience is preferred. Ability to motivate others
- Significant and robust project management skills, proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a rapidly evolving environment
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority
- Strong understanding across the US pharmaceutical value chain and especially in Development / ph2+ clinical development assets
- Firm understanding of multicultural impact on business relationships including experience in working in an international context and environment
- Ability to challenge current perceptions and drive change
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
- Experience working in a global matrix organization
