The Director, Technology and Data Strategy, US Medical Affairs will deliver value continuously by consulting with the Medical Affairs team to establish and maintain a future-proof, industry leading data and technology stack that enables the Medical Affairs vision for expanded customer focus and data-driven, orchestrated customer experience. The person in this role will develop and deliver digital and technology requirements, strategy, account management, business process re-engineering, solution design and implementation. The Business Partner ensures cost effective and/or innovative data and technology solutions are put in place in alignment with the business strategy, prioritizing and managing resources. The Business Partner is focused on building and maintaining close partnerships with customers and related solution groups to become the recognized digital and tech expert and sought partner for Medical Affairs team.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following.

  • Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders across both business and Tech to agree and deliver on GSK's Digital, Tech and Data strategy for Medical Affairs in the U.S.
  • Conduct system architecture evaluation and collaborate with project management and partners across both US and Global Digital and Tech teams to future-proof and improve the architecture that meets the needs of the current business, with an eye to future technology development commensurate with where the business is going
  • Proactively develop a data strategy (both first and third party) that enables Medical Analytics partners and Medical Leads to identify gaps in medical understanding for therapeutic and disease areas relevant to the current and future GSK portfolio
  • Maintains a finger to the pulse of the health and healthcare data markets, including emerging trends on health data utilization to improve healthcare stakeholder experiences with sponsors and manufacturers
  • Partners closely with US Data Operations and Governance to pull-through appropriate data use policies and informs future data acquisitions for Medical Affairs purposes
  • Maintain an enterprise mindset, and be thoughtful about technology and data applications and processes that align with the whole of GSK where it makes sense, and deviations specific to Medical Affairs are thoughtful with the appropriate trade-offs
  • Develop a roadmap to continue to evolve the technology and data capabilities supporting USMA
  • Evaluate and evolve technology and data solutions, in partnership with delivery teams, to support USMA transformation priorities, including providing data to orchestrate customer experiences with expanded customer focus and to enable ongoing optimization based on effectiveness at meeting Patient Medical Unmet Needs.
  • Ensure project plans for Technology initiatives stay on track and get ahead of possible barriers through frequent contact with those responsible for delivering tactics related to the strategy roadmap
  • Update stakeholders about any issues connected to capabilities, the architecture or processes
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging data markets and technologies and propose changes to the existing capabilities to benefit GSK's rapidly evolving Medical Affairs organization


Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS degree in Quantitative, Data Engineering or related field
  • 10 or more years of experience in delivering digital and tech solutions in healthcare or pharma industries
  • Experience in Medical Affairs creating process improvements in how GSK interacts with healthcare professionals, patients, and payers
  • Experience in key stakeholder relationship management
  • Experience of working within a matrixed organization with cross functional teams


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • You have 10 years' experience in delivering healthcare data products, digital and tech solutions in healthcare or pharma industries
  • Excellent strong influencing and communication skills
  • You have the ability to drive outcomes and manage client expectations
  • You have excellent analytical skills and the ability to see the connections between layers of business operations
  • You have the ability to define the beneficial solutions and the ones which are inefficient for a particular business need
  • Call out specific experience in healthcare
  • Experience hitting the ground running
  • Highly regulated environment - good partnerships with partners across legal, compliance, etc
  • Ability to lead and influence without authority
