Emergency General Surgery Physician Assistant
Overview
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our surgical team of experienced physicians and UICOMP residents. The APP will work closely with surgeons and other medical staff to provide high-quality care to patients requiring urgent surgical interventions. This role is critical in managing surgical emergencies, conducting assessments, and assisting in various surgical procedures.
Schedule:
- 3, 12-hour shifts per week(7a-7p) or (7p-7a)
- Rotating holidays and weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and histories in the emergency setting.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to determine appropriate surgical interventions for emergency cases.
- Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including pre- and post-operative care.
- Provide patient education and counseling regarding surgical options and recovery processes.
- Respond to emergency department consultations and evaluate patients requiring surgical intervention.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, surgical rounds, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Stay current with advancements in emergency surgery practices and recommend best practices.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed to provide Advanced Practice Nurse Services or Physician Assistant Services Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
