Executive Director-Physician Compensation

JOB PURPOSE:
Directs physician compensation program and plan design. Evaluates physician compensation strategies, new physician hire compensation to include development of compensation levels for new pro formas, and conducts internal evaluations and assessments to ensure compliance. Develops and aligns strategies, initiatives, pay practices, and supporting infrastructure to achieve results that align with goals and opportunities established within the enterprise. Subject matter expert in providing information on market trends and strategies that impact provider compensation. Model and develop compensation plans for specialty groups and individual plans, along with advising on best practices with the operational and medical leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In accordance with Piedmont Healthcare physician compensation philosophy, develops, implements, and evaluates physician compensation strategies and models which align with financial and organizational objectives and incentivize physician performance where needed in specialties that are new to Piedmont or where there are specialties not covered by other compensation plans
2. Has working knowledge of the nuances of various specialties and the ability to manage specialty specific compensation pans.
3. Work proactively with executive management and legal counsel on interpretation of existing compensation plans, including attending and leading monthly meetings, including but not limited to the physician compensation committee weekly meeting, and following up on outstanding questions/items regarding physician compensation
4. Proactively follow up on outstanding items needed for appropriate physician compensation communications or files with physician leadership
5. Takes appropriate actions to facilitate the timely flow of contract documents through the approval process and that all appropriate approvals are obtained
6. Performs financial modeling, conducts internal valuations and assessments and/or obtains external valuations for each agreement to ensure compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, Piedmont mission and values, and financial constructs
7. Keep abreast of changes in physician compensation marketplace, including change from volume to value, and propose changes to current physician compensation plans to keep pace with the market within legal and regulatory requirements
8. Serve as liaison to physician leadership in physician compensation design, changes, or interpretations of compensation plans or amendments and communication liaison with recruitment, operations, finance, human resources, and payroll
9. Evaluate new physician hires/groups for appropriate placement within Piedmont physician compensation plans/philosophies be able to compare/contrast their existing plans with Piedmont plans
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree from a recognized college or university with course emphasis in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a closely related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of healthcare compensation experience specifically in physician and mid-level compensation practice in a healthcare finance/system of greater than 200 physicians or consulting specializing in provider compensation valuation.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree preferred.
Experience in program design and implementation of physician contracts and benchmarking survey participation.
Must understand IRS intermediate sanctions, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute WORKING FAMILIALRITY WITH FMV CONCEPTS AND NATIONAL BENCHMARKING
Demonstrated knowledge of EEOC and pay equity regulations
