General Job Summary: The Exercise Physiologist, under the direction of the Physician, will be responsible for administering stress tests to monitor a patient's heart function under physical exertion.
(This is a full-time position that will support our Cardiology team at SouthPark, Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm)
Primary Job Responsibilities/Tasks may include, but not limited to:
- Administer strength, endurance, and other tests to assess patients' physical performance.
- Monitor patients' hearth rhythm, heart rate, oxygen saturations levels, breathing rate, blood pressure levels and other vital signs before, during and after testing.
- Analyze the test results and patient background information to identify their specific fitness needs.
- Working with patients to develop appropriate fitness goals and developing detailed fitness plans to help them achieve these objectives.
- Educating and advising patients on how to properly perform exercises.
- Maintain up to date and accurate patient records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology or related field.
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP) certification required.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Two to three years of experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must speak and understand English fluently.
- Critical thinking and ability to concentrate.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit/department conditions.
