HIM Technician - Legal Records Steward

Pay: $21.00-$25.20

• Qualifications:
  
  
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification:
    
    
    • Knowledge of electronic medical records, care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents.
    • Documented Training in Medical Record Confidentiality & Release of Information
    • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and appropriately prioritize in a time sensitive environment.
    • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
    • A team player with an attitude of service and alignment with Orchard Hospital's Mission, Vision, and Values.
    • Computer competency in MS office products; Word, Excel, Outlook, Share Point, etc.

    Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Associate degree preferred.
    
    Licenses/Certification: RHIT/RHIA preferred.
    Experience: Previous HIM department experience.

• II. Job Requirements (20% of Evaluation Score)
  
  
  • Maintains open communication with the medical staff, administration, department supervisors and hospital staff
  • Notifies and assists the Medical Staff members with record completion issues
  • Maintains the Master Patient Index
  • Retrieves and processes the paper records from patient areas
  • Files other reports into the legal health record
  • Maintains the Death Log
  • Serves as the Legal Health record steward, locates and retrieves medical records from EMR's, off- site storage, and other work areas
  • Effectively utilizes the hospital's computer information system(s)
  • Sorts incoming reports daily
  • Primary Technician for purging records in compliance with governing federal and state regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned as a member of the Medical Record Department.
