The Housekeeper or Environmental Services Aide works under the direction of the shift Supervisor. Housekeeping tasks and projects are performed, including the cleaning of patient rooms, restrooms, waiting areas, offices, clinical areas and various ancillary areas. Operation of small equipment such as vacuum cleaners is expected, along with the many different types of dusters, brooms, mops, and other housekeeping tools.
HOUSEKEEPER JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written instruction. Prior housekeeping experience preferred.
Knowledge: Must be willing to learn, identify, understand, and demonstrate a working knowledge of housekeeping cleaning techniques.
Skills: Requires the ability to be receptive and display adequate communication and customer service skills. With time and experience, the employee will be expected to progress to the point that they are totally proficient with their cleaning skills, and have the ability to turn out a superbly cleaned room/area.
Abilities: Requires the ability to effectively deal with the public, patients, staff, department leaders, and peers.
