The Position

The Product Manager is driven by a customer-centric mindset to meet business goals by leading the development of new IT solutions.

 

Relationships

Reports to a manager in the Novo Nordisk (NN) IT Organization. Interacts and has responsibilities to other members of the IT team, including architects, system managers, and other supporting roles. Must maintain positive and frequent communications with line of business owners and managers.

 

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and drive the definition of product vision and roadmap
    • Work with stakeholders – mainly the Business Owners - to establish the product vision and drive the execution of the vision with the ART
    • Work with customers, end users, suppliers, marketing and sales and other stakeholders to build the product/Program Increment (PI) roadmap for the program and communicate this to ART and stakeholders on a continuous basis
    • Track leading indicators for features and account for business cases
    • Cooperate with Release Train Engineer and System Architect to establish and follow up on budgets
  • Build, prioritize and maintain Program Backlog
    • Responsible for, on an ongoing basis to ensure that the Program Backlog is up to date with input from the Agile Teams, System Architects and stakeholders
    • Elaborate on features and define ART guardrails and capacity allocations
    • In cooperation with stakeholders prepare the Program Backlog for PI planning to ensure execution of the roadmap
    • Align with stakeholders, implementers, and Agile Release Train (ART) to ensure product viability
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand key drivers for deliveries to enable ongoing prioritization and content elaboration
    • Clarify and coordinate dependencies with other Product Managers, external stakeholders and Agile teams, and collaborate with these to visualize and prioritise features accordingly
    • Ensure the ART delivers according to its commitment and work with the ART on a daily basis overcoming challenges and clarifying questions to ensure flow
    • Show proactive ownership of the ART deliveries by participating in ad-hoc clarifications and prioritizations during the PI and work with the ART to visualize progress
    • Drive the ART Product Owner community and ensure proactive product lifecycle management
    • Handle/mitigate risks and dependencies on an ongoing basis
    • Ensure Business Owners collaboration and reporting
  • Ensure feature delivery according to agreements (Definition of Done)
    • Accept features throughout the PI in accordance with the Definition of Done
    • Help ensure quality in all deliveries and through definition of acceptance criteria and test
    • Coordinate releases and ensure organizational readiness and implementation
  • Understand “technical enabler work”
    • Work with the ART and other stakeholders to understand “technical enabler work” to be able to prioritize and clarify when needed
    • Contribute in ART events
    • Be a member of the ART leaders team and work proactively with the Release Train Engineer to ensure that the ART events fulfil their purpose
    • Prepare and participate in PI planning and PI execution
    • During PI planning, work with Business Owners and the Agile Teams to define PI objectives and clarify features and priorities
    • Be an integrated part of the ART and continuously work with the ART to help execution
    • Contribute in all ART events, and in cooperation with the ART, other Product Managers and stakeholders prepare for the events by clarifying dependencies, priorities and ensure that features meet the Definition of Ready as defined by the ART
    • Lead the system demos
    • Participate in the ART sync and clarify dependencies in collaboration with other Product Managers and Product Owners

 

Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience working within a Product Management or similar function within IT or innovation
  • Bachelors degree in business, information systems, computer science, or related field preferred
    • Years of experience may be substituted for degree as deemed appropriate
  • Strong business insight and knowledge is required in relation to products, roadmaps etc
  • Ability to drive outcomes and seek new and innovative solutions
  • Experience navigating within a global organization
  • Proven track record of setting direction and communicating a purpose and vision to all levels of an organization
  • Experience with OneTrust strongly encouraged to apply
  • Working within a pharmaceutical or highly regulated environment
  • Experience working within a Data Privacy organization
  • 1+ year experience in Agile methodologies
