Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Intern / Co-Op - Civil / Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist in our Oakland, CA office. The position offers the opportunity to apply engineering academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving contaminated site assessment & remediation, civil engineering design, groundwater management, water treatment, and environmental due diligence while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer or fall semester of 2025. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools;
  • Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors and construction personnel; and
  • Potential for fieldwork (20-25%) such as soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, and drilling and contractor oversight.
  • Local travel or driving to project sites as needed.



Education and Licensure

  • Currently registered in a Bachelor's or Master's university degree program in a relevant engineering or science discipline. (required)
  • Degree focus area in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering or geology. (preferred)



Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience with ArcView, CADD, and/or Microsoft Office. (preferred)
  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, oral and written communication and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites. (required)


Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Based on state and federal requirements, this position may be hourly and overtime-eligible or salaried eligible for straight-time overtime. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum: $66,560/yearly / Maximum: $67,545/yearly or Minimum: $23.19 /hourly / Maximum: $32.00/hourly (Oakland)
