Maint Tech II
Position Title: Maintenance Technician II
General Summary:
Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, or vehicle servicing. Maintains hospital grounds and parking lots, etc. Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty.
Essential Job Functions*:
- Performs basic repairs to equipment and systems as found necessary or as reported by other departments to include plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry related crafts using hand and power tools, ladders, etc.
- Performs maintenance and preventative maintenance on equipment as needed and follows through to ensure that these tasks are completed on a timely basis.
- Assists in assembling and/or installing new equipment and completing renovation work as directed.
- Performs snow removal functions as necessary, including plowing, shoveling, sanding, and salting during the winter months in order to make sure that all pathways are safe for patients, visitors and the public.
- Uses maintenance power tools such as saws, plumbing, electrical test equipment, etc.
- Performs a variety of tasks involving trades of carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, etc.
- Performs lawn maintenance functions as necessary to include mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding mulch beds etc.
- Performs maintenance to lawnmowers, and other grounds-keeping equipment as necessary.
- Maintains parking lots to include sweeping of sand, parking lot striping, catch basin cleaning, patches and repairs.
- Monitors parking lots to enforce hospital parking policies.
- Removes debris from the hospital grounds by a variety of means.
- Regularly inspects extinguishers, emergency lights and exit signs.
- Repairs, patches and refinishes paint or vinyl covered surfaces on the interior and/or exterior of the building as directed.
- Reports all safety incidents, accidents, hazardous conditions, safety risks, etc., and
takes appropriate action to correct any safety or environmental hazard.
- Utilizes Maintenance Department supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently.
- Ensures proper security for equipment and supplies
- Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job.
- Demonstrates hospital's stated mission and values of teamwork, respect and communication with co-workers, patients, families and visitors.
- Actively and appropriately participates in problem identification /solving and resolution, both intra- and inter-departmentally.
- Meets department customer service standards and strives to enhance the level of
customer service provided.
- Performs various other duties as assigned.
- Participates in on-call rotation
Qualifications:
- Education
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred:
- On the job training or apprenticeship program in a related field
- Work Experience
Required:
- 1 year of experience in HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, maintenance, or painting
Preferred:
- Experienced working in the healthcare field
- painting experience
- Other Skills/Knowledge
Required:
- Ability to use basic maintenance equipment such as saws, drills, and other power equipment, as well as hand tools, sanders, grinders, saber saws, band saws, etc.
- Must possess a valid New Hampshire driver's license and be able to drive Hospital vehicles.
Preferred:
- Familiar with Life Safety Code, compliance and safety regulations
