Medical Assistant

**THIS IS A PRN (AS NEEDED) POSITION**

BASIC FUNCTION: A Medical Assistant plays a vital role on our healthcare team, providing both administrative and clinical support to ensure smooth operations and quality patient care. They will provide direct compassionate and professional medical care to patients visiting our Specialty Clinic and assisting in all aspects of medical practice under the supervision of a medical provider.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Rooming patients and setting up procedures for providers.
  • Assessing needs of patients, checking vital signs, providing laboratory procedures as appropriate and ensuring proper follow-up care.
  • Administering immunizations.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Participating in frequent interaction with patients regarding all levels of concerns and questions.
  • Keeping up-to-date on public health policies and procedures.
  • Performing as a positive member of a clinic team.
  • Executing duties with a willingness to help others who are in need.
  • Observing and practicing the policies and procedures of Grand River Clinics and Grand River Hospital District.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • Must have current BLS card within 3 months of initial employment and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.


SALARY INFORMATION:

  • $18.50 - $27.72 Dependent on Experience
  • 10% differential in addition to base rate salary
  • Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts
