Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis by Medical Assistance. Any other duties as needed to drive to the vision fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the organization.
- Responsible for rooming patients and prepare them for examination
- Takes patients vital signs which include blood pressure, height, weight and documents in EMR
- Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history
- Preps procedure room for minor procedure and assist with those procedures as needed.
- Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type.
- Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily.
- Assist physician and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations.
- Draws blood, perform EKG, SWAB test and any additional clinical test within clinic.
- Manages Physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments such as imagining, labs, scheduling surgeries, of referral to specialist. Confirm all orders are completed and that results have been returned.
- Obtain Prior Authorizations as needed.
- Able to check in patients, register patients, verify insurance, scan documents in patient charts, answer phones, return phone calls, and schedule appointments.
- Presents strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: Certified Medical Assistant
Preferred Education: N/A
Experience: One year of Medical Training Preferred but not required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Medical Assistant Certification. American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of start in position.
