Medical Assistant, Physician Center
JOB SUMMARY
Within a patient centered culture, the Medical Assistant (MA) will assist provider and nursing staff to deliver optimal patient care and work with others to achieve efficient clinical and business operations. The MA will facilitate the flow of patients and care by performing clerical and administrative tasks, assisting in patient care, and maintaining the physical environment of the area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred:
- Graduate of accredited school of Medical Assistant
- MA Certification/Registration from accredited program
- Associate's degree in Medical Assisting
Experience:
- 1 year of MA experience Required (2 year's experience preferred) in place of MA program. Demonstrated proficiency with administering a variety of routine patient care procedures (i.e. taking blood pressure, temperature, pulse)
- Computer literacy and familiarity with medical terminology preferred; knowledge normally acquired through previous training or experience.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
Licensure/Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
CPR Certification (to be obtained within probationary period if not already obtained)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force or more constantly. Includes frequent lifting and or carrying or objects up to 50 lbs. with maximum lift of 100 lbs.
Exposure to all patient elements including communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
