Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with completion of an accredited program for nurse practitioners. A Bachelor of Science degree, or higher degree, in nursing required.
  • Licensed as a nurse practitioner in the State of Michigan. Nurse practitioner must also have a current Registered Nurse License and Nurse Practitioner Specialty Certification from a nationally recognized organization.
  • Minimum of two years medical experience in a clinical setting related to specific areas of this position.
  • Has knowledge of Federal, State and other regulatory agencies pertinent to clinical area.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with a variety of patients/families/visitors, physicians, other disciplines, and peer leaders to be able to maintain a positive milieu and employee morale within the assigned unit.
  • Work requires the analytical ability to identify problems, plan for their resolution, monitor and evaluate outcome.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development through continuing education, committee work, etc.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit/department's policies and procedures.
