Under the direction of the licensed staff member, the Patient Care Technician gives routine, non - licensed, technical bedside care as a member of the Nursing Team. Staff may receive, secure and transport medications as necessary
Education
High School Diploma Nursing - Preferred
Experience
1-2 Years - Preferred
Patient Care Technician, Patient Care Technician with two years verified experience or Nursing Student who has completed fundamentals of nursing
License & Certification
Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certificate or Nursing Student who has completed fundamentals of nursing.
Adult CPR training every two years to include CPR (one rescuer) and adult FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction).
Course attendance and demonstration is required
Core Job Functions
Patients are identified per guidelines and patient care interventions are provided under the direction of the RN/LPN. Accurately obtains and documents patient assessments according to hospital/ department guidelines.
Assists in procedures/ exams as directed. Obtains necessary supplies, equipment, and/ or personnel as needed. Communicates data by timely documentation and reporting of abnormal or patient status change to RN/LPN.
Complies with regulatory guidelines for work area and professional practice. Communicates patient safety risks to appropriate providers. Performs interventions under the direction of the RN/LPN.
