Job Summary:
This is a unique opportunity to work in an academic and clinically busy orthopedic pediatric and young adult hip preservation practice treating children and young adults with common and complex hip disorders. The position will be a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Department of Orthopedics and will report to the Chair of Pediatric Orthopedics, the Director of the Center for Children's Surgery, and as needed, to the chart of the Orthopedics Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Simple and complex orthopedic operative and non-operative management of hip disorders, including hip dysplasia, Perthes, SCFE, syndromic and congenital disorders.
- Provide attending call coverage and urgent surgical coverage as needed by the department of pediatric orthopedics.
- Performs clinical research related to specific conditions and assist in preparation of manuscripts for publication. Assist with research training and supervision of graduate and medical students and residents. Assist with preparation of grants and project reports.
- Provide fracture reductions in ER or office as needed, but not conscious sedation.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
- Coordinates the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinic. Work with the team to ensure smooth operation of the clinic.
- Writes progress notes on patients' office and hospital charts indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed; maintains other records as required.
- Provides health education to patients and families; may train and supervise medical students, residents, fellows, Physician Assistant students, and other health professional students, engaged in specific clinical activities.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Participate (attend, give talks, help organize) in educational programs including weekly academic conference, journal club, symposia.
- Participate in community outreach events including giving educational talks, organizing, planning, and attending
- Develop written educational materials and treatment protocols for specific conditions and post-operative care.
- Preparing and giving PowerPoint and poster presentations for educational purposes at institutional, local and national meetings.
- Must become proficient in documentation and use of current the Electronic Medical Record and be an available resource to other health care providers.
- Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations on assigned patients; assess and treat acute/chronic medical problems (focusing on the hip, pelvis, and trauma diagnoses) and provides direct patient care to a specified patient population.
- Write prescriptions for medications, PT, OT, imaging studies, and DME as needed an additionally, complete FMLA and other forms and school notes as needed.
- Providing pre-op, intra-op and post-op care; write appropriate orders, including those for narcotics and other scheduled drugs. There will be some casting, splinting, and dressing required.
Work Location: This role is expected to work onsite and is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Assistant Professor
- Board certified/board eligible Orthopedic Surgeon
- Completion of an Orthopedic fellowship with an emphasis on pediatric and adolescent hip preservation
- Current Medical License
- BLS certified
Associate Professor
- Board certified/board eligible Orthopedic Surgeon
- Completion of an Orthopedic fellowship with an emphasis on pediatric and adolescent hip preservation
- Current Medical License
- BLS certified
- 6 years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in the management of pediatric and young adult hip disorders
- Research Experience
- Evidence of scholarly activity
- Experience of experience in an academic setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Interest in orthopedic pediatric and adolescent hip preservation both in a clinical setting and research work.
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity environment.
- Interest in medical research and previous research experience; basic science and/or clinical, is highly recommended.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Assistant Professor: $450,000 - $500,000
Associate Professor- $500,000 - $560,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
