Under the direction of the licensed staff member, the Patient Care Technician gives routine, non - licensed, technical bedside care as a member of the Nursing Team. Staff may receive, secure and transport medications as necessary.
Education
High School Diploma - Preferred
Experience
Patient Care Technician with 2 Years verifiable experience or Nursing Student who has completed fundamentals of nursing - Required
License & Certification
Professional Certification or Patient Care Technician with 2 Year verifiable experience or Nursing Student who has completed fundamentals of nursing - Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
Core Job Functions
Assists in procedures/ exams as directed. Obtains necessary supplies, equipment, and/ or personnel as needed. Communicates data by timely documentation and reporting of abnormal or patient status change to RN/LPN.
Patients are identified per guidelines and patient care interventions are provided under the direction of the RN/LPN. Accurately obtains and documents patient assessments according to hospital/ department guidelines.
Complies with regulatory guidelines for work area and professional practice. Communicates patient safety risks to appropriate providers. Performs interventions under the direction of the RN/LPN.
