Our ophthalmology clinic is a growing and busy practice dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and innovative treatments for a wide range of eye conditions. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Physician Assistant to join our team of experienced ophthalmologists and medical professionals.
*Job Summary:*
We are looking for a Physician Assistant to work closely with our ophthalmologists to provide high-quality patient care, perform comprehensive eye exams, and assist with surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in ophthalmology and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
*Responsibilities:*
* Conduct comprehensive eye exams, including visual acuity testing, refraction, and slit-lamp exams
* Diagnose and treat common eye conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration
* Assist ophthalmologists with surgical procedures, including cataract surgery, LASIK, and other ophthalmic procedures
* Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with eye conditions
* Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as OCT and visual field tests
* Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and clinic efficiency
*Requirements:*
* Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA) from an accredited program
* Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
* 1-2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant in ophthalmology or a related field
* Strong foundation in ophthalmology, including knowledge of eye anatomy, physiology, and pathology
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
* Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management software
* Familiarity with ophthalmic equipment, such as OCT and visual field machines
* Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
* Experience with surgical procedures, including cataract surgery and LASIK
* Bilingual or multilingual skills
