POSITION OVERVIEW

Women's Health Physician - Primary Care
Full-time (30-40 hours weekly)
Clinic Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00AM-6:00PM, Saturdays: 8:00AM-4:30PM (Urgent Care only)

Position Overview:
New Bedford Community Health (NBCH) is a well-respected federally qualified mission driven Community Health Center dedicated to advancing women's health through innovative, compassionate and evidence-based care. We strive to deliver comprehensive, accessible and compassionate integrated out-patient primary care as well as office-based women's health services and gynecological support; such as pap smears, IUDs, and Nexplanon.

We are seeking a committed and empathetic Practitioner with an interest in Women's Health. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing primary care to women of all ages and will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver a wide range of integrated health services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services including routine check-ups, preventive care, management of acute and chronic conditions, gender-specific screenings, and mental health services
  • Offer patient education on preventive care, healthy lifestyles, birth control counseling & management of varied health conditions
  • Review medical histories, interpret diagnostic tests and labs
  • Facilitate appropriate utilization of the healthcare system and appropriate follow-up care
  • Establish collaborative practices with members of the multidisciplinary team, referring clinicians/facilities to ensure effective integration of care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay updated with latest medical advancements



REQUIRED EDUCATION:
• Current and unrestricted Massachusetts Medical License
• Active DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration
• Board Certification: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or related field
• Two (2) or more years independent practice experience
• Current BLS/CPR Certification
• Strong clinical skills in primary care and women's health
• Dedication to serving a diverse and underserved patient population

OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Interest or experience in community and public health preferred
• Comfortable with supporting LGBTQ+ population as well as individuals with mental health and substance use disorders
• Experience providing medication assisted treatment (MAT).
• Commitment and interest in working with multi-cultural and impoverished populations.
• Primary or Secondary language skills in: Portuguese or Spanish (not required)
• Strong eMR systems experience [EPIC, eCW familiar]
