Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with other departments; participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading of policies, procedures, and skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ability to maintain confidentiality; and both a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, patients, and visitors, and satisfactory job performance despite the stress of a hospital work environment. Incorporates Mission, Vision, and Core Values into department, and ensures departmental employees and self adhere to these. Wears appropriate apparel for the position and displays nametag upon such apparel. Regular and predictable work attendance. Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit, including giving direct patient care. Utilizes gathered data in determining priorities for patients' physical, psychological, educational and discharge needs in formulating the plan of care. Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution. Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of coworkers. Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly. Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting. Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand. Participates in planning changes and improvements. Carries out nursing interventions safely and accurately utilizing knowledge, judgment and skill to implement physicians' orders and the nursing plan of care. Evaluates patient/family responses to implementation of the plan of care and modifies plan of care based on these responses. Provides assistance to Med-Surg and other department of facility as needed including but not limited to direct patient care, STAT orders, administration of medications, etc. Prioritizes workload. Performs documentation accurately, concisely and in a timely manner. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies. Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel. Displays concern and initiative. Observes and supports hospital policies. Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, patients, and visitors. Effectively assumes job responsibilities of ancillary support during absences. Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled. Attend meetings and in-services as required. Other duties as assigned.
