Remote Outpatient Coder

Pay Rate: $28.00 - $38.00
POSITION SUMMARY
Same Day/Observation Coder
ONLY ACCEPTING FULL TIME, PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT PART TIME
POSITION DUTIES
Under indirect supervision, is responsible for accurate diagnosis and procedure coding of Facility Same Day Surgery and Observation records. Classification systems include ICD-10-CM and CPT.
All work is carried out in accordance with the rules, regulations, and coding conventions of the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10-CM, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Individual State Health Planning and Development and organizational/institutional coding guidelines.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT, and third-party requirements regarding documentation and billing.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of Individual State Health Planning and Development and organizational/institutional coding guidelines.
- Able to code Acute Care Outpatient Charts including: Same Day Surgery and Observation. Interventional Radiology/Cardiology Coding experience a bonus.
- When services/diagnoses are not documented appropriately, seeks to attain proper documentation in a timely manner according to facility standards.
- Must maintain 96% overall accuracy rate
- Must maintain average productivity standards. 5 charts per hour for SDS and Interventional. 4 charts per hour for Observation.
- Works the review queue on a daily basis to ensure all charts that are placed in the review queue are worked and any corrections are communicated to the facility if necessary.
- The coder is responsible for coding or pending every chart placed in their queue.
- Coders must maintain their current professional credentials.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current EPIC and 3M required
Requires one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P, or RHIT); AAPC (CPC, COC, CPC-H)
Must be proficient with Facilities Coding Standards.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in outpatient facility surgery coding.
Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT
Interventional Radiology experience is a big plus
Facility SDS/OBS production expectations? 5 per hour
Do the SDS/OBS coders send physician queries? Yes
Assign CPT and ICD-10-CM codes only or will they also be required to assign PCS codes for a subset of codes? CPT and ICD-10-CM only
Is Windows 8, 9 or 10 operating systems satisfactory? Windows 10
Does Novant use 3M 360 CAC? No, just 3M encoder not 360

Green Security Process on file:
- Once approved by client, candidate must go through Green Security process
- Once the Green Security process is completed, candidate must attend mandatory EUPA (Epic) training that is offered weekly at preset times
- Consultant will need to complete the Green Security process within 24-48 hrs. in order to onboard quickly.
