REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services and Building Principals
Performance Responsibilities
- Complies with all state laws, administrative rules and district policies which affect education.
- Provides direct and supportive services to students from birth to 21 years of age with communication and/or hearing disorders.
- Provides speech and language services as assigned on student's IEP.
- Identifies students suspected of having communication and/or hearing disorders through screening or referral.
- Completes diagnostic evaluations in the speech, language or hearing areas upon parental written consent.
- Provides goal based remediation in individual and/or group sessions.
- Provides consultation to parents and other school personnel in speech, language and hearing concerns.
- Counsels and instructs classroom and special education teachers in methods of working with the language impaired child in the classroom.
- Participates in the placement committee process.
- Conducts parent conferences.
- Maintains appropriate student cumulative and therapy files.
- Arranges placement committee meetings, reviews and parent conferences for students who are only in speech and language programs.
- Provides assistive technology services as appropriate.
- Performs other such duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Director of Special Services.
- Regular attendance is required.
Terms of Employment: Contract as per Negotiated Agreement with the BVEA. Salary and
work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the
Board's policy on evaluation of classroom teachers and other teaching specialists. (AFC-E)
