Speech Language Pathologist Assistant - Full-Time

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT (SLPA)

Under the supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist, assist with providing services for children/students with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, oral muscular, augmentative/alternative communication disorders, and hearing impairments; assist with assessments of individual student's needs for therapy; maintain appropriate documentation and reports; collaborate with district personnel and parents regarding therapeutic activities; and to do related work as required as part of ed. team.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Prepares work area and materials for use
  • Accompanies the student from the classroom to the service area or prepares classroom for service delivery
  • Implements documented treatment/intervention plans developed by the speech language pathologist
  • Accurately collects and records subjective and objective date
  • Records student's status with regard to established objectives as stated in the treatment plan and reports this information to the supervising speech language pathologist
  • Assists the speech language pathologist in the assessment of students
  • Orders supplies and equipment
  • Engages in various clerical tasks, including filing and copying
  • Maintains and cleans equipment, adhering to infection control protocol
  • Maintains the confidentiality of information pertaining to students and their families
  • Behaves in accordance with the educational facilities guidelines
  • Respects and appropriately considers age, gender, cultural/linguistic background, and related factors when providing services
  • Participates in educational facility activities and committees as requested by the speech language pathologist
  • Participates in classroom activities as requested by the speech language pathologist
  • Participates in conferences as requested by the speech language pathologist
  • Provide an educational environment which establishes, maintains, and reinforces appropriate pupil behavior, attitudes, and social skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate's Degree from a speech language pathology assistant program recognized by ASHA; or Bachelor's Degree in speech language pathology; or Completion of a college-based speech language pathology assistant certificate program; or Required education as designated by the State licensing board or other regulatory agency

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid California driver's license and availability of private transportation
  • Possession of valid first aid and CPR certificates

Requirements / Qualifications

Education/Experience:
Associate's Degree from a speech language pathology assistant program recognized by ASHA; or
Bachelor's Degree in speech language pathology; or
Completion of a college-based speech language pathology assistant certificate program; or
Required education as designated by the State licensing board or other regulatory agency

Full-time Hours: 8:15 am -3:15 pm, five days a week
