Job Summary: The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) will work closely with licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to implement individualized treatment plans for pediatric patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality speech therapy services while maintaining professionalism, dependability, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Treatment Implementation: Assist in providing speech and language therapy treatments based on the plan of care developed by a licensed SLP. Ensure that treatment is delivered in accordance with medical, clinical, and functional findings.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, including therapy sessions, treatment modifications, and ongoing education with patients and parents regarding the therapeutic process.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Provide active education and communication with patients, parents, and caregivers regarding therapy progress, challenges, and any necessary adjustments to the plan of care.
- Productivity Standards: Maintain and meet productivity standards as set by the Director. Ensure that goals and objectives for each therapy session are achieved.
- Continual Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in speech therapy by engaging in ongoing continuing education to maintain licensure and clinical excellence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong ability to engage with pediatric patients, parents/guardians, and healthcare professionals in a professional, empathetic, and effective manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to ethical standards of practice.
- Capable of building positive, cooperative relationships with patients, families, and team members.
- Proficient problem-solving skills, with the ability to formulate treatment plans and evaluate patient responses to therapy.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under stressful or challenging conditions.
Qualifications:
- SLPA License (Required)
- Fluency in Spanish (Preferred)
- Previous experience working with pediatric patients is a plus, but not mandatory.
