Speech & Language Pathologist (Call-In)

Position Title: Speech & Language Pathologist - CCC (Inpatient and Outpatient)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Senior Therapist, Clinic Supervisor, Therapy Manager, Therapy Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

Diagnoses and treats individuals with speech-language, cognitive-communicative and swallowing disabilities and performs orientation training to patient, family members, and/or caregivers related to communication and swallowing disorders.

Starting Wage: $40.38/hr.

The posted wage is the current starting wage for this position. Actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

The population served includes individuals affected by stroke, orthopedic related conditions, brain and spinal cord injury, amputation, major multiple trauma, and other neurological and medical conditions. REHAB's patients range from pre-teen to geriatric age ranges.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Licensure:

  • Current State of Hawaii SP licensure.
  • Current ASHA membership card (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Completion of competencies and other job-related and REHAB requirements.


Education:

  • Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology


Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of general speech and language and dysphagia theory and practice including those basic principles related to speech-language therapy and dysphagia techniques and methods specific to rehab speech-language pathology and dysphagia.
  • Knowledge of literature and new developments in speech-language pathology with emphasis on rehabilitation.
  • Ability to safely and effectively manage patients' mobility.
  • Ability to clearly communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to safely provide care to patients


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Special emphasis in Master's program in the area of Neurogenic Communication Disorders and in Dysphagia


Skills/Experience:

  • Clinical Fellowship (CF) completed in a site providing rehabilitation services.
