Program Description
Felton Outpatient Services Solano is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, medical providers, case managers, and peer support specialists that provides recovery-oriented, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed specialty mental health services to about 200 clients 18 years of age and older who are Solano residents and/or have Solano County Medi-Cal or Kaiser Medi-Cal. Services are person-centered, allowing individuals to choose services based on their preferences and needs. Outpatient services are offered both in the office and in the community to clients living with moderate to severe mental illness: individual and group therapy, individual and group rehabilitation, case management, crisis intervention, psychiatric medication support, peer support and wellness planning, social and community support activities, and/or other holistic recovery-oriented services as needed.
Job Description
Under the administrative supervision of the Director of TAY and Adult Mental Health Services and the clinical supervision of the Psychiatrist, the Psych NP will provide the following services to clients 18 years or older, all of whom have psychiatric disabilities and/or co-occurring mental health and substance abuse concerns: performing psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and managing psychiatric medications, assisting in the direction of treatment planning within a multi-disciplinary treatment team, and providing oversight and supervision to a licensed vocational nurse/licensed psychiatric technician. Will work closely with Felton's leadership team to implement strategies that enhance client care and improve our medical & psychiatric practice.
Specific Responsibilities
- Exercise psychiatric responsibilities for psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and monitoring of clients.
- Order diagnostic tests as needed.
- Supervise LVN/LPT.
- Maintain compliance of medication room.
- Work in the field or clinic, primarily in Solano County (traveling between two offices).
- Administer injections and dispense medications.
- Work within an interdisciplinary team.
- Work in collaboration with the clinical team to provide therapy and education to clients, including but not limited to harm reduction, relapse prevention, and motivational interviewing.
- Work in collaboration with the clinical team to make appropriate referrals and linkages to other services in support of clients.
- Coordinate medical issues with primary care providers and specialists.
- Maintain client caseload and provide coverage for other clients as needed.
- Maintain clinical records in accordance with mandated standards.
- Consult and provide on-going education to non-medical staff in psychopharmacology and medical aspects of patient care.
- Work in collaboration with Felton's Quality Management team and leadership team to ensure compliance of all staff, charts, and medication room(s).
- Other duties as assigned to support the program and Felton's medical support teams.
Qualifications
- Active license from the appropriate California Board.
- Experience and interest in working with TAY (transitional age youth), adult, and geriatric populations.
- Demonstrated commitment to the welfare of individuals and families with behavioral health issues.
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases and psychosis. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions and preventative healthcare measures.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Complex problem solving; identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Critical thinking skills; using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Social perceptiveness skills: being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.

Additional Information:
Reports to: Director of TAY and Adult Mental Health Services
Job Type: Part-Time 80% (30 hours per week out of a 37.5 hour work week)
Work Schedule: Onsite and some outreach, as needed.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $102 - $112 per hour (DOE)
