Our two campuses in Methuen and Haverhill have a total of 320 beds, and we are a full-service, acute care hospital offering comprehensive inpatient medical/surgical units, outpatient care, and 24/7 emergency services. We have three behavioral health units: cardiac telemetry, and critical care service lines. Our Haverhill campus offers all private rooms, and our Methuen campus offers a new state-of-the-art catheterization suite and Joint Center of Excellence, named as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction+ Center for Knee and Hip Replacement.
Position Summary:
The OR Tech is a member of the surgical team in the operating room who acts as the primary scrub person who handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary, prior to and during the surgical procedure. It provides technical assistance during procedures in the operating and pain rooms. Provides patient care within the prevailing national and state standards of practice and the policies of the facility. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Nurse Manager which include, but are not limited to, providing patient care in other areas.
Qualifications:
The OR Tech will have an understanding of the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Surgical technologists are required to complete an accredited educational program for surgical technologists and hold and maintain a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists
Education: Graduate of accredited educational program for surgical technologists. Or an individual was employed as a "surgical technologist" in a surgical facility on July 1, 2013 (validated documentation required).
Experience: One year of experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- A Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists.
- Or a graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology but has not, as of the date of hire, obtained the certification required must obtain the required certification within 12 months of graduation date.
- BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
