Travel Vascular Interventional Radiology Technologist
Position Summary:
The Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR) Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians in performing minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures. This role involves operating advanced imaging equipment, preparing patients, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring the safe administration of radiologic services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procedure Assistance:
- Assist the interventional radiologist in performing vascular procedures such as angiography, stent placements, thrombectomy, embolization, and other catheter-based procedures.
- Prepare, maintain, and operate radiographic equipment, including fluoroscopy, digital angiography, and ultrasound devices.
- Position patients appropriately to optimize image quality and ensure safety during procedures.
- Patient Care:
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and ensure comfort during the procedure.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including positioning, sterile draping, and monitoring vital signs.
- Ensure all safety protocols, including radiation safety, are followed during procedures.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Operate imaging equipment to capture high-quality images for diagnostic and interventional purposes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and cleanliness of radiology equipment.
- Sterile Technique & Infection Control:
- Maintain a sterile field during all vascular interventional procedures.
- Adhere to infection control policies and guidelines.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of instruments and supplies needed for the procedures.
- Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of procedures, including patient information, procedure details, and any complications.
- Input data into the hospital's PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) for archiving and reviewing.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and state/federal regulations regarding radiologic procedures.
- Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Assist in training and mentoring new technologists or radiology students.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Certification from an accredited radiologic technology program.
Licensure/Certification:
- Active ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Indiana State Radiation License
Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience with advanced vascular imaging techniques
- Siemens equipment experience: ARTIS Pheno
- Procedure experience required with: EVAR, TVAR, TCAR and AAA
