Ultra-Sound Tech

Job Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist produces two dimensional, ultrasonic recordings of internal organs to be used by the prescribing Physician in the diagnosis of diseases and in the study of the malfunction of organs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Select equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination
  2. Explain process to patient, and instruct and assist patient in assuming physical position for examination
  3. Select transducer and adjust equipment controls according to the organ being examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test
  4. Key test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results
  5. Move transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observe sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced

Education and Experience

Minimum Required Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school

Preferred Education: N/A

Experience: 1+ years related experience and/or training, breast ultrasound experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Applicants must be registered or registry eligible through ARDMS or ARRT. If registry eligible, the applicant must be ARDMS or ARRT registered within 3 months of employment. BLS required.
