Ultrasonographer - Radiology, Varied Shifts

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Radiology and the direct supervision of the Ultrasound Supervisor or Vascular Lab Supervisor, independently performs the established, invasive and diagnostic ultrasound procedures. Maintains clinical competence through periodic involvement in direct patient activities, utilizing knowledge of age-related growth and development as appropriate for the population served. Independently performs appropriate ultrasonic examinations, utilizing instrumentation settings based on a thorough knowledge of ultrasound physics. Devises independent decisions regarding length, complexity, and appropriateness of procedures necessary in obtaining a record of the anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for the interpreting physician. Consults with radiologists and/or referring physicians, providing technical interpretation of diagnostic images. Consults with referring physicians with regard to clinical symptoms and pathological conditions, indicating type of ultrasound procedure to be performed, offering suggestions as to optimal studies. Oversees patient scheduling and coordinates with other areas. Updates patient examination history file, and records unusual conditions/limitations. Accurately documents appropriate information in a daily log book. Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required. Performs other paperwork as applicable. Implements and maintains appropriate Quality Control performance testing program for diagnostic equipment. Independently performs testing procedures and evaluates test results. Develops and participates in Quality Improvement activities related to the provision of ultrasound procedures.

QUALIFICATION: Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or equivalent educational level (RN/LPN/Student of RDMS equivalence) required. One year experience as a Sonographer preferred. Achievement of registration by the ARDMS within one year of employment is preferred, within two years is required. Current license with the New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
CPR certification must be acquired within three months of hire and updated annually
