OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

Within a Behavioral Health Residential Facility Therapists work directly with youth in care to provide evidence-based interventions through individual, group, and family counseling. This includes substance abuse therapy intervention as needed. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Therapist works to identify treatment plan goals, geared to support youth with growth and transition to a lower level of care. Collaborates with internal team members and community partners regarding youth updates and care needs. Completes clinical documentation regarding youth treatment within licensing and contractual requirements.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides weekly individual, group and family therapy to youth in care.
  2. Sets up a regular schedule for individual and family sessions, to be held as needed and agreed upon.
  3. Through use of evidence based practices, provides therapeutic interventions to address concerns related to placement needs.
  4. Completes a strengths-based psycho-social assessment of all new youth to determine focus and goals to be addressed.
  5. Creates treatment plan goals based on the assessment, with input from the client, client's family, if appropriate, and external Team Members.
  6. Develops active discharge plan for each client and discusses progress towards goals with client, family members, if appropriate, and external Team Members
  7. Provides resources for clients to community programs or services that would supplement treatment and counseling, both during placement and when transitioning out of placement.
  8. Provides excellent customer service, timely updates and responses to all internal and external requests for information, including internal and external team members.
  9. Provides regular updates and information as needed in effort to give and receive feedback on youths' progress toward goals, and possible needs.
  10. Provides crisis intervention and support with youth as needed outside of therapeutic sessions.
  11. Responsible to maintain all client records and documentation according to licensing requirements, including completing assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries in a timely basis. Submit completed paperwork to supervisor.
  12. Collaborates with program directors, managers, and other applicable staff as necessary in regards to youth to ensure quality integration into the program and community.
  13. Supports the agency's commitment to providing trauma informed care to all Florence Crittenton participants.
  14. Attends meetings on a regular basis (i.e., MDT, Clinical and Intake Team Meetings, Staff Meetings, external meetings as assigned, etc.).
  15. Knows and adheres to elements of service contracts that pertain to placement, intake, treatment plans and discharge. This includes knowledge of policies on allowable passes and beholds.
  16. May assist Clinical Team with training, individual and/or group sessions.
  17. Florence Crittenton's Team Members will support compliance-related items by:
    1. Following internal procedures and external regulations.
    2. Bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.
    3. Successfully completing regulatory training requirements periodically.
    4. Working collaboratively in all facets of position to meet position requirements and support Agency goals.

Currently working on a master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field. Minimum of one year working with adolescents preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License with an acceptable driving record, automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • CPR and First-Aid certification


Position requirements:

Ability to work schedule required to fulfill duties of position. At times, individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

  7. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in accordance with program requirements.
  8. Ability to compile, organize, and review information and use established guidelines or procedures to determine the appropriate course of action in daily work situations.
  9. Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  10. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  11. Works effectively and relates well with others, including management, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the agency. Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and maintains constructive working relationships.
  12. Ability to represent the agency effectively in various settings and within diverse communities.
  13. Demonstrated respect and understanding of the importance to create and contribute to an inclusive working environment and program.
  14. Strong attention to detail and well-organized.
  15. Must be team-oriented
  16. Must be calm, non-defensive, and supportive during a crisis or potential crisis.
